US authorities warned Americans in China about increased risk of detention

July 11th. The U.S. Department of State recommended that U.S. citizens in China be cautious of the increased risk of detention and deportation. This, according to Reuters on Saturday , is reported in the emails of the foreign ministry sent to the Americans in China.

"US citizens can be detained without gaining access to consular services and information about the crimes they are charged with," the newsletter said. It is noted that the Chinese authorities will refer to state security considerations.

"Police officers may detain and / or deport US citizens for sending personal e-mails criticizing the Chinese government," the Department of State explained.
